Dounia: The Great White North (2024)

Dounia's life changes when she and her grandparents move to Canada. Adjusting to a new climate, customs, and languages, Dounia’s family balances their Syrian heritage with Canadian culture. Befriending Rosalie, who shares her French-Canadian background, and Miguizou, who introduces her to indigenous stories, Dounia finds ways to stay connected to her father, who remains in Aleppo. Guided by Kukum, she learns that love can bridge the distance, offering hope for a future reunion. The story explores Dounia’s journey of adapting and finding connection as she builds new relationships in her new home.
