Description:
Get Smart is a comedy TV series that hilariously spoofs the spy genre, blending the sophistication of James Bond with the silly humor of Mel Brooks. The show stars Don Adams as Maxwell Smart, a well-meaning but incredibly inept agent for the secret agency CONTROL, partnered with Barbara Feldon as Agent 99. Their exasperated supervisor is Edward Platt as The Chief. The idea for Get Smart came from Daniel Melnick, who noticed the popularity of spy movies like those featuring James Bond and Inspector Clouseau. The series quickly became popular for its absurd humor and parodies. It spawned two movies, a revival series in 1995, and a 2008 film adaptation. Get Smart's opening title sequence was highly acclaimed, ranked second in a TV Guide poll of the top 10 television credits. The show’s blend of humor and spy action proves that wit and heart are just as important as intelligence.
