Each episode follows Zimmern as he investigates a specific country’s food—how it's sourced, where it’s served, and, typically, tastes it himself. Initially a one-hour documentary called Bizarre Foods of Asia, its popularity led to the creation of a weekly series with the same premise. In 2009, Zimmern briefly stepped away from Bizarre Foods to host the spin-off show, Bizarre World.
