The premise of this movie is almost as intriguing as the all-star cast. It's amazing what talent could be assembled for this piece, and even though some of the parts are relatively minor, the talent on display still shines through easily. The directing is very solid and the story progresses at a pace that feels appropriate. It's easy to draw parallels between this movie and the Twilight Zone episode called "Mr Dingle the Strong", and I don't think they are unfair comparisons even though this is a lot more funny than the episode ever was or intended to be. This movie is still an amazing amount …

I am not sure why this movie is getting this much hate. It is really a quite decent bit of horror with an intriguing premise that delivers well on its promises. The casting is lovely, the directing is good and the effects are more than ok. It is an unsettling thing, and does not lean into the body-horror too much. Also, it is fun to see a movie just 'go with it' and not try to explain everything that is in the movie at every possible point. Keeping it character-driven makes the tension a lot more relatable.…

It offers no real substance, but he packaging is pretty, and the character engaging, just in the most annoying way possible. This was like the most infuriatingly shallow version of The Craft crossed with the most unfunny version of Legally Blonde I could imagine. I cannot fault how it looks, or how it is played, directed, or shot. Only how it is written.…

The horror movies of the eighties and their thematic descendants in the early two thousands are clearly classics for a reason. These tropes work because they actually are scary. This movie uses all of the classic gimmicks and tropes and does so very well. It is a joy to watch a slow-paced slasher that thematically works and calls upon those older classics. The casting for this is perfectly reasonable, the directing is good and the effects are practical and outstandingly fitting. It is great to see and I can highly recommend this movie.…

This movie gets an undue amount of hate for the very lovely and practical effect of a great big plastic fish. I think this is unkind and unjustified. This is not Frankenfish. If you thought that it was, then I understand that you would be disappointed. But this is not that movie. This is a relationship drama that uses an external stressor to build attention. It does so quite well. The characters are engaging enough and dissimilar enough for you to feel with, and their predicament certainly is very stressful. While some of the creative choices aren't perfect, this is a really good movie, especi…

This is a decently made soft-porn movie that suffers from lack of character development and from a narrative that appears to be going somewhere only to trip over it's own feet at the end and die in pointlessness.…

The actors do a fantastic job with this script. But here's my problem: A black woman (2 strikes against her) in a warden position in a (most likely) for-profit, corporation-owned prison, in a back-assward state that murders clearly innocent black people, and she has empathy? This is far-fetched fantasy that is so unbelievable as to be cartoonish. Just to be clear, most of the for-profit prisons in the USA are in right-wing states (except maybe Colorado). The odds of these corporations hiring a woman, or black person, or both as warden would have be pretty damn slim.…

**The People's Joker (2022)**
_Directed by Vera Drew_
Vera Drew's The People's Joker is creatively brilliant with a moving narrative, and she proves you don't need a multimillion-dollar Hollywood budget to make an awesome film. Shot in five days for $25,000, with an army of volunteer animators and visual effects artists recruited through Drew's YouTube show, this DIY trans coming-of-age story wrapped in a Batman parody has more invention, heart, and genuine risk than anything Marvel or DC has produced in the last decade.
Drew plays Joker the Harlequin, telling an autobiogr…

**_Three women get drawn into a video game at an arcade_**
This ‘B’ flick from The Asylum came out at the end of 2019 around the same time as “Jumanji: The Next Level” and tried to take advantage of its popularity. Instead of statuesque Karen Gillan as the redhead protagonist, there’s Jessica Chancellor, who’s petite by comparison, yet more voluptuous.
Although a throwaway flick, it’s a fun adventure/fantasy highlighted by Jessica, one of the most attractive redheads to hit the screen in recent years. The camera doesn’t fail to capture her beauty in a respectful way. Check her ou…

stopped after the first episode because I got disgusted with the hypersexualized 10 years old or so character. Truly disgusting. Plot could be interesting, but I won't know.…
