Tuvalu (1999)

In Sofia, a faded indoor swimming pool is the setting for a story of love, lies, and family conflict. Anton, a young man dreaming of sailing the world, connects with Martha, a detail-oriented cashier. Together, they work to keep their failing business afloat for Anton's blind father. Their plans are threatened by Gregor, Anton's ambitious and ruthless brother. He wants to demolish the town for a luxury condo development. To undermine Anton and win over Eva, a woman Anton loves, Gregor orchestrates an accident that endangers their business and their relationship with their father. The film explores the tensions within a family struggling to hold onto a fading past, as characters navigate deception and betrayal to achieve their desires. Can Anton and Martha overcome Gregor's schemes? And what will they sacrifice to protect their family’s legacy from the forces of progress?
