The Turning Wind (1962)

A sophisticated Black man returns to his ancestral home in a traditional fishing village in Bahia. Seeking to overcome what he sees as oppressive mysticism and superstition, especially the Candomblé religion, which he believes hinders progress, he tries to guide his community toward modernity. However, his efforts lead to a series of devastating events that reveal the profound strength of these traditions.
