Description:
In a crowded, rundown flophouse, a story of survival unfolds under the strict rule of the landlord, Kostyleva. Wasska Pepel, a clever young thief, becomes involved with Vassilissa, the landlord's wife, but his plans change when he wants to be with her sister, Natacha. At the same time, Pepel befriends a former nobleman, now struggling with hardship. As their friendship deepens, Pepel's hopes for happiness are threatened by Vassilissa's spiteful actions. He is wrongly accused of murder and drawn into a dangerous scheme that endangers everything he cares about.
