The Loner (1987)

In Paris, two police officers, Commissioner Jalard and Inspector Lecache, long for a quiet life in the West Indies, weary of the city's constant crime. Their plans change unexpectedly when they meet the criminal Schneider at a nightclub. Schneider kills Lecache, fueling Jalard's desire for revenge. As guardian to Lecache’s son, Christian, Jalard vows to find justice and guide the boy as his father would have wanted. Years later, Jalard rises in the police force while watching over Christian. When intelligence reveals Schneider's return, Jalard sets out on a dangerous pursuit to capture the gangster, seeking justice for his friend and protecting Christian.
