The Kidnapping of a Wizard (1980)

Anna Ivankevich, a recent graduate, returns to her quiet hometown after twenty years to work on her dissertation, staying with her aunt. The peace is disturbed when two unusual strangers arrive, claiming to have rented the house for two weeks through Anna's mother – a claim confirmed by a letter from her mother.
