The film follows the intertwined lives of four people. War divides lovers Sanae and Kenji. Sanae is raped by General Takada and gives birth to their daughter, Junko. Junko faces a difficult life and becomes a prostitute. Years later, Kenji finds her and, mistaking her for Sanae, they have a sexual encounter. He doesn't know that this leads to the birth of Hiroko, who later meets General Takada at a hostess club.
