The Holy Alliance (1980)

In 1974, after the death of dictator Salazar, a group of army officers attempt a coup to create a socialist state. But leftist officers secretly guide the events toward democratic elections and Portugal's first constitution. The film follows a traditional businessman as the country undergoes a dramatic political shift. He struggles with his conservative values while balancing his roles as a father, husband, and lover in a rapidly changing society.
