The First Man (2011)

This film is based on a novel by Albert Camus, unfinished at the time of his death. It tells the story of Jacques Comery, who returns to Algeria in 1957, a land steeped in his childhood memories. The country is deeply divided between those who wish to stay with France and those fighting for independence. As he revisits his past, Jacques is haunted by recollections of his mother, his strict grandmother, and a young Arab boy.
