The Browning Version (1994)

The film follows Andrew Crocker-Harris, a middle-aged Greek and Latin teacher at a prestigious British boarding school, as he faces retirement and personal turmoil. After nearly twenty years of service, Andrew is dismissed for health reasons, potentially threatening his pension. Students view him negatively, comparing him to a tyrant. His wife, Laura, further complicates matters by intentionally causing him emotional distress. As Andrew confronts his career ending and damaged relationships, he struggles to regain his self-respect amidst the breakdown of his life.
