Description:

In 1980, at a show in New York's Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, artist Chris Burden presents his large kinetic sculpture, The Big Wheel. A 6,000-pound cast-iron flywheel spins continuously, initially powered by a motorcycle. During an interview with art critic Willoughby Sharp and gallery owner Feldman, Burden discusses the making of the piece. He connects it to his earlier performances and sculptures, explaining his intentions and the deeper meanings behind The Big Wheel. Their conversation explores ideas about artists and industry, the blurred line between individual madness and societal chaos, and humanity's tendency towards violence.
