Description:

Marc-André Leclerc, a remarkable climber, considers solo climbing his life's devotion and ice his natural environment. Filmmaker Peter Mortimer documents Leclerc by waiting at the foot of a cliff in British Columbia for him to descend, then asking him questions. Uncomfortable with the attention, Marc-André prefers the solitude of his tent in the forest with his girlfriend, Brette Harrington. Throughout the winter, Peter films breathtaking solo climbs on precarious ice, often struggling to coordinate with Leclerc, who seems indifferent to being filmed, stating, "For me, it wouldn't be a solo if there was someone else." Leclerc embodies the ideal of the modern mountaineer, according to Barry Blanchard, Alex Honnold, and Reinhold Messner, who are interviewed in the film.
