Strikethrough 48 explores the difficult realities of mental health and the difficulties people face in a seemingly perfect community. The film, set in a county often called "paradise," reveals the hidden struggles of its residents who are often unsupported by the systems around them. Inspired by a location north of the Golden Gate Bridge, Strikethrough 48 uses a unique filmmaking method to blend poetry and visuals. It features erasure poetry, where words are removed from a text to create evocative lines set against painted seascapes. This film is part of Strikethrough-Score.org (around 2020), a project that explores using digital tools in poetry and combines poetry with other art forms to create a powerful and engaging experience for viewers.
