Description:
In the late 1950s, Schwechater beer company hired artist and filmmaker Peter Kubelka to make a short commercial. Kubelka chose an unusual method, defying typical advertising. He filmed without looking through a viewfinder, framing shots by instinct. The editing process created a 90-second film with quick cuts, abstract visuals, and a distinctive look using black-and-white frames overlaid with red. The film captures people drinking beer and its foam, evolving the commercial into an experimental audiovisual piece that explores how we see.
