Sau Din Saas Ke (1980)

In a grand house, Bhavanidevi rules with absolute authority, controlling every aspect of her family's life. She lives with her two sons and a favored daughter, Shobha, whose husband, Khubchand, receives special attention. This carefully controlled world is disrupted when the eldest son marries Sheela, whose dowry Bhavanidevi considers inadequate. As punishment, Bhavanidevi cruelly burns Sheela's foot, forcing her into submission. This act warns everyone against challenging the matriarch. Further tension arises when the second son defies his mother by marrying without her permission. Outraged, Bhavanidevi rejects his wife, Durga, but is forced to accept her when Durga insists on staying. Durga soon discovers she's entered a world where women are expected to be submissive. She must now navigate a complex power structure while fighting for her independence within this oppressive environment.
