The artist uses enlarged images from these sources in a montage, set to a rock version of The Doors' "L.A. Woman." The visuals include familiar images of women – an ice skater, baton twirler, cheerleader, and young girls eating sweets. This arrangement emphasizes how these depictions were created for entertainment, likely aimed at a male audience, rather than reflecting real female lives. The work was one of four channels shown together in Birnbaum's 1982 Documenta 9 installation, showing how television images and ideas can be analyzed and broken down using new artistic methods.
