Peacetime (1980)

To save his dying village, Bencsik Béla, head of the local co-op in Borsány, makes a bold effort to attract new families. He offers them a safe place to live and good jobs with competitive pay, hoping to stop the village from emptying out and going bankrupt. The film explores resilience, hope, and how far people will go to protect their homes and the future for their children. It's a dramatic but realistic story about rural life facing hardship, and the strength of community and determination in the face of overwhelming challenges.
