Description:
In May 1978, the Zairian mining town of Kolwezi is attacked by communist insurgents from Angola. The conflict escalates with hostages taken – Europeans and African residents alike – and a brutal massacre of both sides. France responds by sending a Foreign Legion regiment to rescue them. The film follows the interwoven stories of Delbart, a veteran about to return home with his family; Damrémont, his replacement; Bia, a local doctor; Annie, an American wife of a Belgian engineer and a Legion Non-com; Federico, a French Non-com; the French Ambassador; and the Military Attaché. It's a gripping portrayal of the battle between French military forces and guerillas during this pivotal moment in the Belgian Congo.
