Olympics 40 (1980)

During WWII, inside a German POW camp housing Polish, French, and British prisoners, an illegal sporting event develops. Despite the war's harsh realities, an unlikely friendship blossoms between a German lieutenant and a Polish prisoner who previously competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The Polish prisoner secretly suggests an underground Olympics, creating makeshift flags, medals, and organizing races. A humorous incident occurs when a German guard accidentally helps stage a hop race that becomes a painful ordeal. As the lieutenant grows suspicious and the Polish leader is moved to a concentration camp, the prisoners persist with their hidden games, defying orders and building camaraderie in the face of hardship.
