In the early nineties, hip hop's international explosion reached Italy, sparking a cultural movement that defined the country's "golden age" of rap, beginning with the first Italian rap album in 1990. Diverse artists like Sangue Misto, Kaos and Colle Der Fomento, Neffa, Frankie Hi-Nrg, Sottotono, and Articolo 31 emerged, connecting counterculture with a wider audience. Among them was Fabri Fibra, who would become a key figure. As the new millennium approached, this vibrant scene began to decline, leaving many questioning its fate. This story of musical creativity is told through the perspectives of the artists who lived it, and with the insights of Ensi, a freestyler who grew up with them. Together, they offer an intimate look at the rise and fall of Italian hip hop during its unforgettable golden age.
