Mystery Date (1991)

Tom McHugh expects a fun evening with his neighbor when his adventurous older brother Craig gifts him his classic 1959 DeSoto Firesweep. The night quickly spirals out of control as Tom becomes entangled in a series of escalating misunderstandings. While out with a mutual acquaintance, Tom is mistaken for Craig and drawn into trouble by strangers. Mobsters believe he's his brother and threaten him, thinking he knows too much about their illegal activities. The police pursue Tom, suspecting him of murder, and an angry florist attacks him, claiming he destroyed her shop. Adding to the chaos, Tom's date is abducted. His night takes a dark turn when he discovers two bodies hidden in the DeSoto's trunk, forcing him to confront a shocking truth about his brother Craig. This fast-paced comedy follows Tom as he tries to clear his name and rescue his date amidst a series of absurd and dangerous situations.
