Description:
On a quiet road lined with villas, a long-standing feud between neighbors Gormsen and Sandelund escalates into open warfare. Sandelund, a meat wholesaler and capitalist, lives in a modern house with a flat roof. Gormsen, a dentist and communist, lives in a traditional half-timbered house with his much-younger wife. A third character, merchant Krause, begins as a small grocer and becomes increasingly successful throughout the story. Deeply religious and a member of the church council, he observes the conflict. The neighbors' teenage children find their parents' dispute amusing and foolish.
