Amala (2022)

"Amala" is a story about belonging and yearning. A teenage girl named Amala often imagines herself as part of her Danish neighbors' family, while also fulfilling her Tamil family duties. However, when her mother discovers Amala has a secret boyfriend from the Danish family and confronts her, Amala decides she no longer wants to live up to her mother's expectations. She wishes she weren't part of her family and that her mother wasn't her mother. As the god Ganesh watches from the family altar, Amala awakens the next day as Amalie, part of the Danish family, with no memory of her past life.
