Description:
Years later, a woman recounts her experiences during the 1941 Japanese invasion of Hong Kong. She is Nam, a young woman, beautiful and the daughter of a wealthy rice merchant, who suffers from debilitating seizures. Her childhood friend is Coolie Keung, once from a prosperous family but now impoverished and hardened, a natural leader, and in love with her. Fay, a resourceful actress from the north, arrives with the goal of reaching Gold Mountain in the US or Australia. The three women form a close bond, but their plans to leave Hong Kong are disrupted by the invasion. Fay must rescue Keung from those collaborating with the Japanese, Nam develops feelings for Fay, and perilous challenges await their subsequent attempts to escape.
