Maze Baal (1943)

In Khandekar's film, Manohar, a public prosecutor with strong moral principles, clashes with the realities of the world. He seeks the death penalty for Ravindra, a nationalist anarchist. Ravindra's pregnant girlfriend, Shashi, gives birth and becomes a nurse in an orphanage. There, she cares for Manohar, who falls in love with her. They marry, but Shashi hides her child. When a child dies at the orphanage, Manohar prosecutes the facility's manager for infanticide. Shashi testifies in court, revealing her past and profoundly changing Manohar's perspective.
