Phonograph (2016)

Yuli Ivanovich Blok, a passionate early sound recording enthusiast, introduced Edison's phonograph to Russia in 1889. He proposed recording the renowned pianist Anton Rubinstein, but Rubinstein declined. Instead, an impromptu recording session ensued with those present, including Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who experimented with the device, capturing whatever sounds arose. The film recounts this notable event from January 1890.
