Description:
Warsaw, Poland, late 1970s. After a violent crackdown on workers' protests against rising prices by the communist government, a group of dissidents form KOR (Workers' Defense Committee). Building on a history of opposition to the Communist regime since World War II, and supported by intellectuals and moral leaders who had long fought social injustice, KOR aims to challenge the state's control over information and establish an independent labor organization. In 1980, KOR's efforts contribute to the creation of Solidarnosc, the first independent trade union in Eastern Europe. Three KOR members recount their memories of this victory over communist power in Europe.
