Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, a Sikh man is murdered. A college student, Valarie Kaur, travels across America to explore the meaning of belonging in a country increasingly defined by division. Equipped with a camera, she documents hundreds of previously unheard stories – tales of fear and grief, but also of strength and optimism. Her journey leads her to a widow halfway across the world, where she discovers a deeper understanding of America's heart.
