Rotunda (2008)

Thomas Jefferson envisioned the Rotunda as a symbol of nature's authority and reason's power, making it the heart of the University of Virginia, which he established in 1824 as America's first secular liberal arts university. Composer Judith Shatin and filmmaker Robert Arnold present a portrait of the Rotunda blending its enduring beauty with the constant activity of everyday life. Sounds and images captured throughout a year, across all seasons, are combined to create a single day, from sunrise to sunset.
