Description:

In 1969, Taylor Mead told artist Wynn Chamberlain that Andy Warhol had never paid him for his work. Chamberlain, in response, decided to make a film for Taylor. Inspired by the commonplace nature of 1960s television, Chamberlain created *Brand X*, an 87-minute series of fake TV shows that satirizes the politics and mass media of the time, including commercials for various products. *Brand X* follows Taylor Mead through a chaotic day at a television studio as he plays a range of characters: an exercise guru, a talk show host, a Civil War veteran, a hospital patient, the President, and a televangelist. The series mocks President Nixon, the Vietnam War, sex, drugs, computers, money, and race relations.
