Two families, living on neighboring farms on the Brazil-Uruguay border, have been estranged for decades. Physical closeness is overshadowed by a fence of prejudice, hatred, and unkindness.
Each year, near Christmas and New Year, the families gather on their farms. Unbeknownst to them, a romance between two young people threatens to overcome the deep-seated division that extends far beyond the fields separating them. The love between Rodrigo and Juliana offers a chance to heal a relationship scarred by years of animosity, but like Romeo and Juliet, human nature is complex and unpredictable. Tragedy resides within people, and is sometimes unavoidable, whether in Verona or on a border farm.
