Lost Town (2013)

"Lost Town" follows a man's intense quest to connect with his late father by exploring the history of his family's town, Trochenbrod. Once highlighted in Jonathan Safran Foer's "Everything Is Illuminated," Trochenbrod was the sole all-Jewish community outside of Palestine. The town's 5,000 Jewish residents were nearly entirely wiped out by the Nazis, with only 33 escaping the massacre. This personal journey sparks renewed interest in Trochenbrod and reunites scattered survivors after more than 60 years. "Lost Town" combines current documentary footage, original animation, and firsthand accounts from survivors to examine the lengths people will go to find their identity.
