Brian Friel: Shy Man, Showman (2022)

Brian Friel is considered one of Ireland's greatest playwrights. In the 1980s, he largely retreated from public attention. This film explores how Friel revolutionized Irish theatre in the latter half of the 20th century by examining his relationships with family and friends, his collaborations with actors and directors, and through his personal letters, archive, and readings from his plays.
