Description:
Set in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas between 1960 and 1980, this film adapts Umakanta Mahapatra's short story "Joseph." Father O'Hara (Victor Banerjee), a missionary doctor assisted by his caretaker Maularam (Sudarshan Juyal), raises an orphan named Josef (Hitesh Bisht). As a young boy, Josef is sent to Dehradun for education and training. He returns with a reputation as an excellent cook and a fondness for alcohol. The film follows the characters over time, exploring their individual pursuits of spiritual fulfillment through memories, duty, and searching, as well as their relationships with others. Using static compositions, the story reflects the continuous flow of time, with events echoing and repeating in symbolic ways.
