Description:
This film, adapted from the novel by Venezuelan author Enrique Bernardo Núñez, follows engineer Leiziaga as he uncovers connections to historical figures during an archaeological expedition on the island of Cubagua, Venezuela. The story weaves together two timelines: the 16th-century arrival of Spanish settlers and their exploitation of the island's indigenous population for pearls, and a 1920s expedition led by Leiziaga, funded by an oil company. While studying the ruins of the Spanish settlement, Leiziaga reflects on the impact of time and human exploitation, ultimately discovering the links between past, present, and future.
