Description:
New York, 1985. Amidst the AIDS epidemic – viewed by some as divine retribution for gay men in America – angels contemplate the hollowness of the American dream. They encounter the ghost of Ethel Rosenberg, disrupting relationships and impacting patients. Prior, battling AIDS, loves Louis, who is about to leave him. Roy Cohn, a powerful, Jewish, gay lawyer, hides his HIV status while harboring anti-Semitism and homophobia. Harper uses drugs to cope with her marriage to Joe, whose ambiguous sexuality conflicts with deeply held religious beliefs. Originally intended as a stage play, "Angels in America" was adapted into a TV movie, "Angels - Salle Escande," filmed during rehearsals.
