Description:
"Rusalochka" begins in Copenhagen, Denmark, where tourists admire the city's famous mermaid statue. A fish in the water scoffs at their admiration and recounts the mermaid's tragic love story. On her fifteenth birthday, the Little Mermaid is permitted to swim to the surface. There, she sees a prince struggling in a storm and, moved by his bravery, resolves to save him, believing "the beautiful and the brave should not perish." Returning to the ocean, she decides she wants to become human.
