Description:
"The Right to Happiness" is set in a charming used bookstore in a small Italian town with beautiful scenery. The bookseller, Libero, is close to his unique customers, often struggling to charge them (except for fascists, who pay extra). When Essien, a young émigré from Burkina Faso, discovers the shop, Libero starts lending him increasingly challenging books. Essien reads quickly, keeping pace with Libero's lending, and they develop a connection through their shared love of reading and its deeper meanings. "Books should be read twice," Libero says, "once to understand them, and once to think." Libero’s name means “free,” and he offers Essien that freedom.
