For eleven years, the FantAsia Film Festival in Montreal has been the leading North American venue for fantasy, horror, and action films from across the globe. Each July, huge crowds gather for screenings, with the festival running for about three weeks. *In the Belly of the Beast* documents the difficult journeys of five filmmakers who participated in the festival while working to finish their movies. Candid interviews recall crew conflicts, financial scandals, and studio collapses, alongside the current hurdle: how audiences will receive their films.
