Description:
As night falls, a masked Phantom roams a graveyard, briefly taunting an owl. He then enters the opera house and becomes captivated by Kitty, a singer who is envious of the lead performer, a hippo. The Phantom is instantly smitten with Kitty and, to help her, sabotages the hippo. He secretly places a phonograph player inside her costume. When she performs, the flawed recording is mistaken for her own voice and she becomes a sensation. However, Kitty rejects the Phantom backstage, choosing Oswald the Rabbit instead. Enraged, the Phantom abducts Kitty to the catacombs beneath the stage, prompting Oswald to launch a rescue attempt.
