Playing With Fire (2014)

"Playing with Fire" is a documentary following actresses in Afghanistan who risk facing harsh criticism, social disapproval, and threats to their lives and families for pursuing theater. The profession has led to tragedy, including the death of a young woman in Kabul, forcing many actresses to flee the country. Greek actress and director Anneta Papathanassou travels to Kabul to teach ancient Greek theater and document the lives of these artists striving to blend art and culture amidst immense hardship in a turbulent nation.
