Description:
Albania, 1958. Luana, the daughter of a respected village man, befriends Agim, who arrived after his family was exiled from the city by the communists. Their childhood friendship blossoms into teenage love, but their future seems impossible. Luana's father arranged her marriage to another man when she was young. Discovering Luana and Agim’s feelings for each other, he angrily arranges the original wedding. Luana must choose: flee with Agim to Germany, risking capture and death by the communists, or remain loyal to her family. This is a moving story of love set against a backdrop of oppressive traditions. It explores the importance of freedom, even if it means sacrificing companionship.
