Description:
Kharkiv, 1930s. Ukrainian art is flourishing. Vladimir Akimov, an ambitious young poet from the countryside, is thrilled to move into the luxurious "Slovo" House, designed for artists. He works as a proofreader and has never imagined sharing a residence with leading Ukrainian writers and artists. Though he believes his poetry is exceptional, his work is largely dismissed, even ridiculed. Then, the head of the political intelligence agency proposes he take credit for an existing play, under a non-disclosure agreement. Akimov doesn't foresee the consequences of this opportunity. "Slovo" House tells the story of a generation of Ukrainian artists targeted by a totalitarian regime, set against the backdrop of the Holodomor, one of the 20th century’s deadliest genocides, which killed nearly seven million people.
