Description:
In East Texas, the summer after graduation, Jack falls for Ginny, the banker's daughter – a woman his mother's high school sweetheart wants for his son. Ginny, who's been at boarding school and is planning to attend Vassar, defies her father to spend time with Jack. At the end of summer, they elope to Louisiana, where she can marry at seventeen without parental consent, and he finds work in the oil fields. Her father hires a private investigator to track them down. Ginny discovers she's pregnant, her doctor delivers devastating news, and Jack’s mother has secrets of her own. It appears Jack and Ginny have been living under false pretenses. What will they do?
