In a typical neighborhood of Baghdad in 2006, everyday life continues for ordinary people living under the constant threat of violence. The lives of these people intertwine, centered around Sara, a single mother and novelist who rediscovers her passion for writing after her Christian neighbor and friend, Sabiha, is forcibly exiled. With Saddam Hussein's unexpected execution just before the New Year, Sara and her neighbors face an uncertain future. Despite this, they each manage to hold onto a fragile sense of hope.
