Eat This New York follows two best friends as they fight to open a restaurant in New York City. Facing financial difficulties, the loss of their chef, and strain on their friendship, the filmmakers observe the city's renowned restaurateurs who demonstrate that aspirations can be achieved. Billy Phelps and John McCormick’s venture to open a restaurant unfolds on Division Street in Brooklyn, a distinctive area bridging Williamsburg's Satmar Jewish community and the South Side's Latino neighborhood. Over a year, they transform a former check-cashing business beneath the J/M/Z subway lines into a vintage speakeasy. However, before completion, they narrowly avoid bankruptcy and question their friendship.
