Art Kabuki (2021)

Kabuki, a traditional Japanese theatrical form known for its elaborate stories, sets, costumes, and makeup, originated in the early 17th century with a priestess named Okuni. Initially performed on the streets, it quickly transitioned to theaters and remains a popular art form in Japan today. In 2020, with live performances cancelled due to COVID-19, young kabuki actor Kazutaro Nakamura created ART KABUKI. He assembled a diverse team of dancers, musicians, and actors to produce a visually stunning filmed performance that incorporates modern stage technology. The show explores themes of play, beauty, and life, offering a message of hope for the Japanese people and audiences worldwide.
